Thai Poosam

A vibrant festival dedicated to Lord Murugan. Devotees carry kavadi, perform vows, and participate in colorful processions, making it one of the most visually striking festivals in the area. Celebrated on the full moon of the Tamil month of Thai (Jan-Feb), devotees observe intense rituals like carrying milk pots (Paal Kudam), bearing decorated burdens (Kavadi), and sometimes body piercings, alongside fasting, as acts of penance, devotion, and seeking spiritual strength, with grand celebrations in Tamil Nadu, Malaysia, and Singapore.
